Arson: July 14, 4:35 p.m., 37th Avenue and Fulton Street

A report came into dispatch concerning a 48-year-old male who was setting brush in Golden Gate Park on fire. Officers responded to the scene and detained the suspect, who said: "There's a demon in my head."

He was arrested and charged.

Robbery: July 13, 11:25 p.m., 18th Avenue and Anza Street

A woman was standing on the corner talking on a cell phone when two suspects approached, pointed a hand gun at the victim, and demanded her phone and money.

The victim complied and the suspects, described as being between 18 and 25 years of age, fled.

Cultivating Marijuana, Theft of Utility Services: July 12 and July 13, 3300 Block of California Street and 500 Block of 43rd Avenue

Plainclothes officers conducted an undercover operation concerning the illegal growing of marijuana that resulted in the search of four different locations over a two-day period. Three of the locations were on the 3300 block of California Street and one was on 43rd Avenue.

All four locations had a large amount of cultivated marijuana and hundreds of plants still growing. At two locations, there were dangerous electrical hookups whereby electricity bypassed the homes' meters via a direct link to the high-voltage lines on the street.

Two male suspects were arrested and booked.

Robbery: July 12, 11:25 a.m., 3700 Block of Balboa Street

A woman entered a store, and pointed a gun at an employee and demanded cash. The employee gave the 30- to 40-year-old suspect money and she fled southbound on 39th Avenue.

Cultivating Marijuana, Possession of Drugs for Sale: July 7, 7:45 p.m., 700 Block of 33rd Avenue

After investigating a house officers suspected was being used to grow marijuana, a resident of the house was detained and a search of the premises was commenced.

Inside, officers discovered a large quantity of marijuana and cash. A 48-year-old male was arrested and charged.

Robbery, Burglary, False Imprisonment, Assault, Possession of a Deadly Weapon: July 4, 7:09 p.m., 4700 Block of Geary Boulevard

A man knocked on the door of a hotel room and a woman answered. The man asked if the woman's husband was there and the woman said "no."

The man then forced the door open and entered the room with a knife in his hand. He demanded money.

The victim gave the suspect money and he fled. The woman screamed and several other people at the hotel tried unsuccessfully to detain the man.

One of the responding officers discovered the suspect at 10th Avenue and Geary Boulevard and tried to detain him but the suspect threw the officer to the ground and took off running.

A nearby resident in the 1800 block of Anza Street heard the suspect running up a flight of stairs and forcibly opening the front door of an empty apartment. She informed officers responding to the scene of the suspect's location.

When officers attempted to arrest the 27-year-old suspect, he violently resisted but was eventually subdued. The man is a suspect in two other robberies that occurred earlier in the day. He was arrested.

Burglary: Between July 4, at 10 p.m., and July 5, at 4 a.m., 6100 Block of Geary Boulevard

An unknown suspect smashed the front display window of a business and reached inside to take flowers from a display before fleeing.

Vandalism, Possession of Aerosol Cans: July 2, 3:45 a.m., Arguello and Geary Boulevards

A witness called police to report two men defacing the side of a building and provided a description of the suspects.

Officers responding to the scene saw the men getting on a bus a couple of blocks away and detained them. In their possession were spray paint canisters.

A search of the area turned up identical"tags" on nine other buildings. The 25-year-old and 27-year-old males were arrested and charged.

Battery: July 1, 2:15 a.m., 18th Avenue and Geary Boulevard

A man wearing a Boston Red Sox hat was walking past a bar where another man was smoking a cigarette. As he passed, the smoker said: "F___ the Red Sox."

The man kept walking but the smoker called him a name.

"Don't call me that," the victim replied.

The suspect then punched the victim in the face. The 25-year-old suspect was arrested and charged.
