Assault: March 18, 1:30 a.m., 400 Block of Clement Street

Officers on patrol noticed a man lying on the ground with a group of people standing nearby.

When they asked the man what happened, he said he was just standing outside the bar when the suspect, whom he did not recognize, came up and punched him in the eye. The victim hit his head on the pavement when he fell.

The suspect fled southbound on Sixth Avenue.

Witnesses at the scene said the victim and the suspect were arguing inside the bar earlier in the evening.

Assault: March 17, 9:30 p.m., Golden Gate Park

A group of four friends were walking into Golden Gate Park at Ninth Avenue and Lincoln Way when they were suddenly surrounded and attacked by a group of six men, who had been hiding in some nearby bushes.

Some punches were exchanged and one victim was kicked several times before the assailants fled in an unknown direction.

The victims received minor medical treatment at the scene.

Burglary: March 16, between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., 1400 Block of Lake Street

An unknown suspect pried open the front door of an apartment and took a television, video game system and laptop computer before fleeing.

Battery of a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Selling Alcohol after Closing: March 14, 3:10 a.m., 4100 Block of Geary Boulevard

A police officer saw a large group of people exiting a bar after hours and went inside to investigate. There were still 35 to 40 people upstairs at the premises drinking alcohol.

The proprietor said the crowd refused to leave and one of the patrons lit a cigarette.

The officer told the man it was illegal to smoke and he left, with the help of some female patrons.

When the intoxicated smoker reached the bottom of the stairs, he started fighting with another officer who had just arrived at the scene. When the first officer went to help, he was punched in the head. The crowd then began to swear at the officers and one jumped on the back of an officer as he was trying to detain the drunk.

Numerous patrol units responded to the scene and the crowd was disbursed, except for two suspects who were arrested and the proprietor, who was cited.

Possession ofNarcotics: March 13, 2:23 p.m., 11th Avenue and Lake Street

A plainclothes officer saw a man walking his dog on the street when he passed a parked car and shook his head disapprovingly.

The officer investigated and discovered two men, one of whom was putting suspected drugs on a piece of aluminum foil for "cooking." When the suspects saw the officer, they dropped the items in their hands on the floor.

The were arrested and booked.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon: March 13, 3:40 a.m., Seventh Avenue and Geary Boulevard

A man was walking home from work when an unknown assailant walked up and hit him on the side of the head with a baseball bat.

The victim said the suspect said nothing and took nothing before fleeing. The injured man was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Assault: March 13, 9:45 p.m., Third Avenue and Geary Boulevard

A cab driver was hauling a fare eastbound on Geary when he noticed a dark blue sedan driving erratically behind him. At Fifth and Geary, the suspect tried to pass the taxicab unsuccessfully in the right lane. When the taxi stopped for a red light two blocks later, the sedan swerved into the lane next to the taxi and words were exchanged.

Suddenly, the two men in the sedan exited the vehicle. One of the men grabbed the cabbie and dragged him into the street, via the window. The two men, both in their 20s, then kicked the taxi driver in the head before re-entering their vehicle and speeding off.

The taxi driver's fare fled during the incident.

Possession of BB Guns: March 5, 2:36 p.m., Golden Gate Park

A report came into dispatch concerning two people with guns in Golden Gate Park near 10th Avenue and Fulton Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 22-year-old male and a 38-year-old female shooting air-soft pistols, which shoot plastic BBs. Not knowing what type of guns the couple had, the officers ordered them to drop their weapons and both complied.

The couple was charged for being in possession of a BB gun.

Armed Robbery: March 5, 7:45 p.m., 38th Avenue and Anza Street

A man was walking when he was suddenly approached by two male suspects, both in the 20 - 30 years of age range. Both suspects were armed with knives.

One suspect removed the victim's backpack and the other rifled through his pants pocket, removing his wallet and cash.

The suspects, who both wore bandannas on their faces, fled.
