Attempted Arson: Aug. 18, 5:10 p.m., 400 Block of 18th Avenue
Two women saw a male teenager pour a flammable liquid on a park bench and light
it, causing the bench to burst into flames. The teenager then walked over to
a garbage can and attempted to light the liner on fire. The suspects ran over
to the bench and began to stomp out the flames. When the suspect tried to exit
via a gate, one of the victims grabbed him in an attempt to detain him. The
suspect pushed the victim and spat in her face before fleeing southbound on
18th Avenue toward Anza Street.
Resisting Arrest, Obstructing an Officer, Warrant Arrest: Aug. 16, 11:38
a.m., 25th Avenue and Clement Street
After making a traffic stop, an officer was talking to the driver when a man
walked by and started yelling obscenities at him. The officer told the man to
move on and not obstruct his duties. The suspect complied at first, but then
returned and continued his tirade, telling the officer to "bring it on." The
officer called for backup and ordered the suspect to place his hands on a nearby
wall. The 50-year-old suspect started to comply, but suddenly spun around and
said he was not going to be arrested. The officer shot mace at the suspect,
but he fled on foot. Backup officers responding to the scene captured the suspect,
who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued in Santa Clara County.
Aggravated Assault: Aug. 15, 2:55 a.m., 100 Block of Palm Avenue
A man and his girlfriend were walking to a car when three males suddenly attacked.
The victim was punched in the face and dragged into the street, where the suspects
kicked and punched him all over his body. The girlfriend jumped in and dragged
the victim away as the suspects fled in several vehicles. The victim was treated
at the scene for his injuries.
Trespassing: Aug. 15, 11:52 p.m., 600 Block of 32nd Avenue
A citizen called to report a burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they
saw three suspects running near a football field. One of them was caught trying
to escape via a hole in a fence and two others were discovered hiding in some
brush. The three suspects, all juveniles, were released to the custody of their
parents.
Criminal Threats, Outstanding Warrant: Aug. 14, 12:11 a.m., 6100 Block of
Geary Boulevard
A report to dispatch said a man in a bar had a gun and threatened to shoot everyone.
Officers arrested the suspect for threatening the bar's patrons and for an outstanding
warrant issued in Daly City. No firearm was seen or located.
Concealed Weapon: Aug. 14, 6:12 p.m., 21st Avenue and Geary Boulevard
Plainclothes officers observed a man approaching pedestrians. He would walk
with them for 30 or 40 feet trying to engage them. When he approached a woman,
she tried to get away from him by picking up her pace and moving toward the
curb. The officers stopped the man, who was in possession of a dagger, concealed
in his pocket. The 39-year-old suspect was arrested.
Driving Under the Influence: Aug. 13, 12:23 a.m., Arguello and Geary Boulevards
Officers stopped a driver who was operating a vehicle with no headlights on.
Upon making contact with the driver, the officers smelled a strong odor of an
alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath. The driver said he had not consumed
any alcoholic beverages. A Field Sobriety Test was conducted and the driver
was not able to perform all of the tests satisfactorily. An alcohol screening
test was administered which resulted in a reading of excessive alcohol in the
driver's breath. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence
of alcohol.
Hot Prowl Burglary: Aug. 10, 2:07 p.m., 400 Block of Ninth Avenue
A man heard a loud noise in the back of his apartment that sounded like someone
was trying to force a door or window open. When he looked outside, he saw the
suspect. "What are you doing?" the man said. The suspect responded he was looking
for someone and walked down the fire escape and fled on Eighth Avenue. Officers
found the suspect ducking to avoid detection after a description was broadcast.
The suspect was detained and a computer check revealed he was on parole. He
was arrested and booked for attempted burglary, trespassing and the parole violation.
Criminal Threats, Parole Violation: Aug. 8, 2:36 p.m., 1000 Block of Great
Highway
A man was walking his dog when the suspect started following them making inappropriate
comments. After the suspect threatened to shoot the man, he called police, who
detained the suspect. The suspect was wanted for a parole violation.
Warrant Arrest: Aug. 8, 4:15 p.m., 800 Block of La Playa
A man was seen "casing" vehicles in the area. After officers stopped a man who
matched the description of the suspect, they ran a computer check which revealed
a "no-bail" arrest warrant. The suspect was transported to Richmond Station
and booked.
Assault, Suspended Driver's License: Aug. 7, 8:13 p.m., 11th Avenue and
Geary Boulevard
Officers responded to a report of a fight with one of the participants being
intoxicated. When they arrived on the scene, the suspect had already fled in
a white Sports Utility Vehicle. A witness got the license plate number on the
vehicle and officers were able to catch up with the suspect near his home. He
appeared drunk and there were two children in the back seat. A computer check
revealed an outstanding warrant issued in Daly City and a suspended driver's
license. The victim in the initial report of a fight had tried to stop the suspect
from driving while intoxicated. The suspect was arrested and the children were
placed with adult protective services.
Suspended Driver's License, Warrant Arrest: Aug. 6, 11.11 p.m., Geary Boulevard
A vehicle was stopped for having an expired registration and a computer check
revealed that the driver was driving on a suspended license and had an outstanding
arrest warrant. The driver was arrested and booked at Richmond Station.
