Presidio Branch Library to close, major upgrade, remodel

A walk up the front steps at the Presidio Branch Library shows why the 87-year-old structure needs repair. A wobbly banister with crumbling steps and a faded terra cotta exterior are obvious indicators that the Italian-Renaissance style building, which opened in 1921, is showing its age.

Presidio releases results of annual bird count

A bird in the hand, in this case, is worth more than 7,000 in the bush. About a dozen bird watchers fanned out across the Presidio recently for an annual census of the park's bird population.

City has plans for new park nursery

The San Francisco Planning Department has proposed plans for a new nursery facility at the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park.

Richmond filmmaker to debut 'The Full Picture' at film fest

Award-winning playwright and filmmaker Jon Bowden says if it wasn't for the generosity of the Richmond District business community the film might not have been made. Bowden debuts his latest film, "The Full Picture," at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival Feb. 5 - 21 and the Sonoma International Film Festival April 1 - 5.
