Police Blotter
Road Rage: March 17, 8:20 a.m., 17th Avenue and Anza Street
Officers arrived quickly for a call for service and caught a road rage suspect
before he could flee. The victim said he was driving westbound on Fulton Street,
at Eighth Avenue, when the suspect cut in front of his vehicle, causing him
to slam on the brakes. The victim honked at the suspect and continued on his
way. The suspect suddenly threw an object at the victim's vehicle, hitting it,
and pulled in front of the victim and slammed on the brakes. The victim pulled
over to allow distance between himself and the suspect, but the suspect pulled
over in a bus stop and waited. When the victim drove by again, the suspect pulled
alongside and tried to push the victim's vehicle into the oncoming traffic.
The victim regained control and drove several blocks to locate a police officer.
The 26-year-old suspect was charged with aggravated assault, reckless driving,
driving with a suspended license and a probation violation.
Robbery, Assault: March 3, 3:15 a.m., Golden Gate Park
The two victims were in the park near Lincoln Way and Eighth Avenue to "buy
some weed." Instead, several suspects approached the two men and assaulted them,
taking one of the men's wallet in the process. The suspects fled into the park.
The victims were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Hot Prowl: March 23, 9:30 a.m., Unit Block of Loraine Court
A couple was awakened by noise coming from a closed area in a back bedroom of
their home. When they investigated, a man was discovered standing in the bedroom.
The woman screamed for the man to call the police and the suspect fled from
the home. Several items were taken by the suspect, including jewelry and cash.
Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property: March 10, 11:30 p.m., Geary Boulevard
and 28th Avenue
A man got off a bus with his laptop computer in a carry- bag and entered a local
store. When he left the store and started walking, he noticed three men, who
were riding the same bus as the victim, following him. Suddenly, the suspect
ran up behind the victim and pushed him to the ground. One of the suspects grabbed
the computer bag and ripped it off of the victim's shoulder. The suspects fled
northbound on 29th Avenue but were quickly corralled by responding officers.
The three suspects, who were 21, 18 and 14 years old, were taken into custody
and charged. The victim's computer was discovered a block away.
Trespassing, Resisting Arrest: March 25, 1:38 a.m., 4700 Block of Geary
Boulevard
Police dispatch was notified of a man who refused to leave a business. According
to the caller, the suspect appeared to be "high on drugs" as he yelled unintelligently
and banged on the counter. Officers arrived at the scene and observed the man,
who did appear to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The officers
repeatedly asked the man to sit down, but he started yelling and kicked a metal
sign. As the officers approached the suspect, he started swinging at the officers,
hitting one of them in the arm. Additional officers arrived to assist before
the suspect could be successfully controlled. He was transported to Richmond
Station and booked.
Graffiti, Possession of Controlled Substance: March 18, 1:45 a.m., Clement
Street and Fifth Avenue
A passerby alerted police to a suspect who had just vandalized a building with
graffiti. The officers detained a 23-year-old man with black paint on his hands.
"I do stupid stuff when I drink," the suspect said. While booking the suspect,
suspected cocaine was discovered, leading to an additional charge.
Possession of Deadly Weapons, Narcotics, Stolen Property: March 1, 5:30
a.m., 5800 Block of California Street
Two males were on bicycles looking into the windows of parked cars when officers
arrived. After trying to hide by crouching next to a parked car, one of the
suspects rode his bicycle into an alley between two houses. Officers detained
the 20-year-old suspect and discovered a dagger, pepper spray and narcotics
in his possession. The suspect said he did not want to get arrested and was
currently on probation and enrolled in drug classes. He was transported to Richmond
Station and booked.
Discharging a Weapon in City Limits: March 14, 3:05 a.m., 100 Block of Wood
Street
A man called police to report a bullet hole in his living room window. Officers
could see that the bullet penetrated a metal railing before hitting the glass,
so only the outer pane of the double pane window was damaged. A search of the
area for suspects was unsuccessful.
Warrant Arrest: March 1, 7 p.m., 8100 Block of Geary Boulevard
Plainclothes officers were conducting surveillance on a home when they saw the
suspect, a wanted escapee and parole violator from Jefferson County Missouri.
The officers arrested the 32-year-old suspect and charged him with the warrant.
Hit and Run: March 15, 2:30 a.m., 500 Block of 45th Avenue
Shortly after the bars closed, a suspect drove a stolen pick-up truck into a
house. The suspect escaped by fleeing on foot.
