Battery: Aug. 30, 6:35 p.m., Golden Gate Park
A woman had just completed a run in the park when a man touched the back of
her leg and started following her.
The woman began to run and approached a passerby, who called police.
Officers discovered the suspect near the Bandshell. He was positively identified and arrested.
Assault: Aug. 31, 1:50 p.m., Golden Gate Park
A report came in to dispatch about an assault in progress that was occurring
behind a restaurant at the west end of the park.
When officers arrived, they discovered two victims who were intoxicated and refused to cooperate. One of the two suspects in the beating was discovered hiding in some nearby bushes. The suspect was also intoxicated. He was charged with battery.
The two victims, who had serious injuries, were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Vandalism, Detonating Explosive Charge: Sept. 4, 8:45 a.m., Third Avenue
and Cornwall Street
A man put an explosive device on a motor scooter, which detonated, and tried
to escape.
Witnesses were able to give officers a description of the get-away vehicle, which was stopped near Geary Boulevard and Sixth Avenue.
It was determined that the suspect was embroiled in a dispute with the owner of the scooter. The suspect was transported to Richmond Station and booked.
Burglary, False Impersonation: Aug. 28, 11:30 a.m., 500 Block of 24th Avenue
A homeowner let a man dressed like a water department employee into his home
to inspect plumbing because of reported sewage problems in the area.
The victim turned on his faucets and washing machine for the suspect.
The suspect left the premises, saying he would return in 15 minutes. He never returned.
The victim said numerous pieces of jewelry were missing.
Robbery: Sept. 2, 8:25 a.m., Anza Street and Sixth Avenue
A woman was exiting a bus when the suspect grabbed her iPod from her pant's
pocket.
The suspect fled eastbound on Anza Street.
Bank Robbery: Sept. 17, 6 p.m., 300 Block of Clement Street
An unknown suspect entered a bank and handed a teller a note demanding money.
Because the bank had just closed, the cash drawer would not open and the suspect
left empty handed.
Burglary: Sept. 4, Between 1:45 p.m. and 2:10 p.m., 2700 Block of California
Street
The victim was working in his home office when someone entered the kitchen area
of the home and took a laptop computer, camera and cell phone.
Entry was made via an unlocked gate and door.
Robbery, Purse Snatch: Sept. 4, 7:20 p.m., Golden Gate Park
A woman was walking near a golf course parking lot at the west end of Golden
Gate Park when she noticed a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and bandanna across
his face.
Although the victim thought the man's dress was odd, especially since it was warm outside, she continued walking toward the park's soccer fields.
Suddenly, the suspect ran up behind her and grabbed her purse. The woman resisted, but the suspect showed a gun, which looked fake.
The suspect pried the purse loose and fled westbound on JFK Drive towards Ocean Beach.
Aggravated Assault, Reckless Driving: Sept. 16, 3:25 p.m., Geary Boulevard
and 18th Avenue
Two vehicles were driving eastbound on Geary when the driver of one vehicle
got into an argument with a passenger in the other vehicle.
The passenger reached out and used a knife to cut the arm of the driver, who had his arm outside of the vehicle.
The victim pulled over to confront the suspects, but the driver of the suspects' car rammed the victim's vehicle and forced it onto the sidewalk, knocking over a light pole in the process. The suspects fled but a witness was able to provide officers with a license number.
Officers discovered the vehicle on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Golden Gate Park. After a short pursuit, the driver pulled over in the 1400 block of 30th Avenue. The passenger who cut the victim's arm was not in the vehicle.
The driver, an 18-year-old male, was transported to the police station and booked. The investigation is ongoing.
Robbery: Sept. 13, 2:05 p.m., 500 Block of Clement Street
A man was withdrawing money from an ATM when the suspect approached and started
commenting on the victim's dog. As the victim turned to leave, a witness informed
him that the suspect had taken his wallet and fled.
