Is it the business of this city government to abuse its citizens and taxpayers?

This is what happens every time a rock concert is allowed in Golden Gate Park. The last straw was the three-day-and-night auditory hell the Recreation and Park Department approved.

Not only was our hearing pounded on mercilessly, but we could definitely feel our blood pressure escalate that weekend.

Why did Rec. and Park fail to give proper, adequate notice to us residents at ground zero last year when this concert was being discussed? Why can't Rec. and Park rangers respond to a simple request to turn the volume down? There are no valid reasons why the music has to be so loud.

Enough is enough.

The trash swirling the streets in the Richmond District these days seems to be largely composed of political advertising and door hangers. One month after they were distributed I am still picking up door hangers. It's sad how candidates professing to improve the Richmond feel they can trash the neighborhood in their quest for political glory.

After 20 years or so, be it corporate structure, the economy or present day uncertainty, the 711 market at 10th Avenue and Clement Street is history.

August 17 was the last time I saw Frank Yee and his crew. It was one of our neighborhood hangouts, a gathering place for students, locals, Muni workers, law enforcement officers and so on. Now, it is just a dark corner.

This is not the best of times the whole country seems to be on the verge of being boarded up. Best of luck to Frank. Thanks for the years of daily dialogue.

We'll miss you.
