Burglary: April 17, 11:37 p.m., Balboa Street and 10th Avenue
The victim was preparing to exit a Muni bus at 10th and Balboa when he noticed
another man waiting to exit the bus at the same time.
When the doors opened, the suspect grabbed the victim's iPod and ran off the bus. The victim gave chase, and caught the suspect at Ninth Avenue and Cabrillo Street. The suspect gave the iPod back and fled westbound on Cabrillo. The investigation is ongoing.
Robbery: April 17, 2 p.m., Golden Gate Park
The victim was walking in front of the Japanese Tea Garden when the suspect,
who approached the victim from behind, grabbed her purse and fled behind the
Bandshell in the Music Concourse.
Numerous officers searched the area for the suspect, who was not found. Officers did recover the victim's purse and most of its contents, except for the money that was in it.
Attempted Robbery: April 23, 4:23 a.m., Geary Boulevard and 30th Avenue
The victim was walking westbound on Geary when he was approached by a man, in
his early 20s, who asked for one dollar.
Suddenly, the suspect pointed a suspected gun in the victim's chest and demanded his wallet. When the suspect learned the victim did not have any money, he hit the victim in the eye and fled.
Methamphetamine Offense: April 19, 6:01 a.m., Lake Street and 15th Avenue
Two police officers were in a marked patrol car when they observed a bicyclist
driving through a stop sign at about 10 miles-per-hour. The officers stopped
the cyclist, who admitted to having some "meth" in his pockets.
A computer check showed the suspect had outstanding warrants for his arrest. The 33-year-old suspect was transported to Richmond Station and booked. The suspected drugs were taken to the Hall of Justice's narcotics drop box.
Robbery with Knife: April 15, 3 a.m., California Street and Presidio Avenue
The victim was standing at a bus stop when a black SUV, with three male suspects
in it, stopped next to the victim. One of the suspects exited and asked the
victim for his wallet. After giving the suspect his wallet, the suspect pulled
out a knife and asked the victim if he had anything else.
Meanwhile, a second suspect exited the vehicle and asked the victim for his personal identification number for his ATM card. The suspects then fled westbound on California Street.
Burglary: Between April 18, at 9:15 p.m. and April 19, at 10:50 a.m., 3100
Block of Geary Boulevard
The suspect gained entry into a business by removing the louvers from a transom
window above the door. Once inside, the suspect took cash from a drawer.
Robbery: April 14, noon, 5400 Block of Geary Boulevard
After a dispute over a parking space, the suspect drove away.
But, he returned a short time later and confronted the victim by pushing him and taking his glasses. The suspect fled eastbound in a white van on Geary.
Commercial Robbery: April 5, 3:25 p.m., 3200 Block of Geary Boulevard
Two men, one armed with a gun, entered a business and demanded money. After
pointing the gun at the employee, the victim complied and gave the suspects
money.
Prior to fleeing the business, the suspects rifled through the employee's personal property. The investigation is ongoing.
Conspiracy, Malicious Mischief, Graffiti: April 15, 3:46 p.m., 1000 Block
of Anza Street
Two police officers in an unmarked police car observed a suspect writing on
a utility pole. An accomplice was sitting in a nearby car, with the passenger
side door open.
As the officers observed, the suspect got into the vehicle, which departed at a high rate of speed. The officers caught up with the two suspects at a nearby corner store.
After identifying themselves as officers, the suspects were taken into custody.
The suspect who had been "tagging" said, "I don't tag anyone's property. It was just a pole."
The tagger said his moniker was "ENUF," which is what was written on the utility pole. When the officers searched the vehicle of the get-away driver, they discovered a plastic baggie with suspected marijuana.
"It's under my seat. It must be mine," the driver said.
The suspects were transported to Richmond Station and booked.
Malicious Mischief, Vandalism: April 8, 7:10 p.m., 2200 Block of Clement
Street
An off-duty sheriff from San Mateo County witnessed the suspect smashing the
windshield of a car with his cane.
After refusing the officer's demands to halt, the sheriff physically took the 50-year-old suspect down and restrained him until SF Police Department officers arrived on the scene to arrest him.
Because the suspect appeared mentally unstable, he was transported to UCSF for medical observation.
