Burglary: June 21, 4:35 a.m., 1000 Block of Great Highway
Officers met with the owner of a restaurant after the owner discovered from
the janitorial staff that there had been a break-in at the business. The glass
door at the rear of the restaurant had been kicked in and several bottles of
alcohol had been taken.
The business is equipped with surveillance cameras, so the owner and the officer watched the tape of the suspects breaking into the business. The officer was able to obtain a good description of the two suspects.
As the officer was finishing his investigation, he observed a male approach the rear of the restaurant, and realized it was one of the suspects from the videotape. The suspect, surprised to see the officer, took off on foot. While in pursuit, the officer saw the first suspect meet up with the second suspect. He continued to broadcast to the other officers in the area the direction they were fleeing.
Both suspects were taken into custody. The two apprehended 17-year-old males were charged with burglary.
Attempted Burglary: June 23, 2:40 p.m., 600 Block of 47th Avenue
Officers responded to a call of a person breaking into a residence. The owner
told the officers that he observed the suspect standing at his rear window with
a screwdriver in his hand.
While the suspect was attempting to pry open the window, the owner yelled at him. The suspect hopped the backyard fence and fled towards Balboa Street.
Burglary: June 12, 2:55 p.m., Spruce and California Streets
Plainclothes officers were in a shopping center's parking lot when they received
information that a male subject, who had burglarized a business on the block,
had returned to the area.
Officers also determined that the suspect was driving a stolen car. While conducting surveillance of the stolen vehicle, the officers observed the suspect enter the car to drive off.
When they attempted to detain him, he refused to listen to the officers' orders to stop and slammed into a parked vehicle. The officer at the driver-side door was almost pinned between two cars. The suspect continued driving and intentionally struck two other occupied cars in the parking lot while trying to escape.
Eventually, he fled on foot. After a short chase, the officers tried to detain him. He put up a violent struggle with the officers but was taken into custody.
An investigation determined that the suspect had gone into two stores on California Street and made purchases with a stolen credit card. It was also determined that the suspect was on parole for burglary. He was charged with six counts of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and numerous other charges.
Robbery: June 24, 2:30 p.m., 44th Avenue and Anza Street
A woman came into Richmond Station to report that she had been robbed while
jogging.
She said she had been out jogging, shortly after midnight, when a silver vehicle pulled in front of her and two suspects got out and confronted her. After one suspect yelled at the victim to give him her iPod, the victim complied and then ran off.
Robbery: June 15, 7:20 p.m., La Playa and Fulton Street
Officers responded to the area of Fulton Street and La Playa on a report of
an attempted robbery.
The officers located the two female victims, who were 14 and 16 years of age. The teenagers said they were confronted by the suspect, whom they recognized from school. The victims were punched and thrown to the ground by the suspect, who tried to take the girls' cell phones.
The victims were able to flee into a nearby business and call for help. The investigation is ongoing.
Robbery: June 8, 12:42 p.m., 3200 Block of Geary Boulevard
The suspect entered a business and attempted to steal a Bluetooth headset.
After the manager brandished a box cutter, the suspect left the store, taking the headset with him.
Robbery, Aggravated Assault: June 8, 4 p.m., Ocean Beach
Numerous officers from both the Richmond and Taraval police districts responded
to a call of a robbery at the Ocean Beach seawall, at stairway 25 near Golden
Gate Park. The victim had been beaten and kicked about the head and body by
numerous suspects before they took his wallet.
Witnesses observed the suspects fleeing in a vehicle and provided a description to officers. Officers in the area located, and arrested, the four suspects in the vehicle near Spreckels Lake in Golden Gate Park.
Threats, Mayhem: June 7, 1:50 a.m., 5100 Block of Geary Boulevard
A group that was drinking in a bar was asked to leave because it was closing
time. But one member of the party became upset and started throwing beer bottles
around the business, causing damage to a television.
The suspect threatened one of the bar's employees and everyone at the bar fled.
Shooting: June 10, 1:20 a.m., 43rd Avenue and Geary Boulevard
Officers responded to SF General Hospital on a report of a shooting victim.
The victim said he was a passenger in a stopped vehicle, when an unknown male wearing a ski mask came up to the drivers' side window and started shooting into the car. The passenger was struck twice in the arm, and the driver took him directly to the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
