Traffic Crackdown at Music Concourse

To promote the "pedestrian-friendly" Music Concourse approved by San Francisco voters in the Golden Gate Park Revitalization Act of 1998, resolutions were passed by the Golden Gate Park Concourse Authority, SF Recreation and Park Commission, and the SF Board of Supervisors prohibiting drive-through automotive traffic in the Music Concourse.

As of late June, drivers on Tea Garden and Music Concourse drives neither picking up nor dropping off patrons in the Concourse will be issued a $103 citation by park patrol officers. Enforcement of the new program is intended as another step towards realizing the pedestrian oasis envisioned by voters in 1998.

For drivers crossing the park, the Concourse Authority recommends using Crossover Drive; Stanyan Street; and Middle Drive East to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. For more information, call the community comment line at (415) 831-2728.
