Police Blotter

Robbery with Gun: Sept. 30, 10:58 p.m., 400 Block of 41st Avenue
A man returned home from work and put his briefcase down on the front porch to open the door. Suddenly, a man appeared and pointed a handgun at the victim's midsection.

"Give me the money," the suspect said.

The 45-year-old victim replied that he did not have any money. The suspect then started pat-searching the victim with one hand while pointing the gun at him with the other.

"Don't mess with me. Give me the money," the suspect said.

The victim said his wallet was in his briefcase, which the suspect grabbed and ran off with. A search of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful. Police officers patrolled in front of the victim's home for the remainder of the evening because a set of house keys were in the briefcase.

Arson: Oct. 16, 5:03 p.m., 600 Block of 48th Avenue
A homeowner living near federal property had asked a transient several times not to sleep on his property. In an apparent act of retaliation, the 37-year-old suspect allegedly set fire to a wooden pallet and some shrubbery located on the victim's property.

After seeing the fire from the beach, Engine 34 responded to extinguish the flames.

"We only started the fire and didn't mean anything by it," the suspect said after being taken into police custody.

The suspect, who smelled of smoke, was wanted for an outstanding warrant. The victim refused to sign a citizen's arrest form, stating that he only wanted the suspect removed from his property.

Aggravated Assault, with Force: Oct. 13, 3:14 p.m., 3400 Block of Geary Boulevard
A man started to walk out of a liquor store without purchasing anything. The manager of the store noticed that a bag he was carrying appeared heavy and said he heard what sounded like two bottles 'clinking' against each other in the bag.

Suspecting that the man was trying to shoplift items from the store, he asked the man to stop. But the suspect continued walking out of the store. While he was walking, the manager noticed a 1.75 liter bottle of gin in the bag.

When the manager confronted the suspect outside the store, the suspect said, "Help me, daddy. Help me," and proceeded to punch the manager in the nose, knocking him down. A female employee of the store came to the defense of the victim and stopped the attacker as he tried to kick the victim in the head.

The suspect, who was with a female, boarded an eastbound Muni #38 Geary bus. Officers stopped the bus several blocks away and took the suspects into custody. The 51-year-old male suspect was on felony probation from an earlier offense, for which he did 83 days in jail.

The store manager was transported to the hospital for treatment of an apparently broken nose.

Marijuana Cultivation: Oct. 11, 11:58 a.m., 500 Block of Arguello Boulevard
Firefighters responding to a call regarding a water leak knocked on the door of the residence but no one answered. When the firefighters jumped a fence and approached the residence from the backyard, they could see black plastic lining the walls of one of the rooms with what appeared to be marijuana growing inside.

Police officers were called to the scene and after determining that the water leak could cause problems at the house or surrounding residences, they entered the building and discovered two rooms with black plastic and suspected marijuana growing inside.

During the investigation, a 23-year-old male approached two officers outside the residence and asked, "What's going on?" After initially denying any knowledge of what was going on, the suspect admitted being a tenant at the residence and used his key to enter the house.

After discovering a PG&E bill with the suspect's name on it, he was taken into custody pending further investigation. The utility company was notified to cut power to the residence.
