An officer handling traffic for an auto show at Speedway Meadows in Golden Gate Park observed two vehicles racing one another eastbound on JFK Drive, just in front of the venue. The engines revved loudly, generating smoke and screeching tires. The vehicles drove more than 100 yards at speeds in excess of 50 m.p.h. The officer pulled them over.

One of the vehicle's front license plate was missing. The driver was cited for speeding and his vehicle was towed by City Tow.

Robbery with Gun: Oct. 16, 1:22 a.m., 4100 Block of Geary Boulevard
A male at a cafe was told by a male acquaintance in his mid-to-late 20s that he wished to speak to him about something alone in the bathroom. Once in the bathroom, another male entered and pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim while blocking the doorway to prevent anyone from entering or exiting the room.

"Give me your money!" the suspect without the gun said.

The victim complied and the suspect took $170 in cash out of his wallet, but none of his credit cards. The suspect then said, "I need more money, I need $10,000 to bail my friends out of jail!"

The victim said he did not have that much money.

"I'll call you tomorrow at 4 p.m. and I'll be back for the money then," the suspect said.

The suspects left the bathroom, collected their tab from the bar, totaling $470, and left without paying. They were accompanied by a 25-year-old woman when they left.

Several units responded to the scene and searched the area to no avail. Surveillance videos from the scene showed both suspects in the cafe at the time reported by the victim.

Robbery with Force: Oct. 11, 12:35 a.m., 500 Block of Second Avenue
A clerk at a grocery store was working when a man in his early-to-late 20s walked in and brought a can of beer to the counter and presented a $5 bill to pay for it. When the cash register popped open to make the transaction, the suspect grabbed the money tray and immediately fled out of the store, running eastbound on Anza Street.

The clerk did not give chase since his seven-month-old child was behind the counter at the time of the robbery.

A witness walking on Anza saw the suspect running out of the store with an unknown object in his hands. "Going for a run?" he asked.

"Getting out of here!" the suspect said, before running southbound on Arguello Boulevard.

Officers searched the area for the suspect and cash register to no avail. The store did not have a security surveillance camera.

Robbery with Force, Battery with Serious Injuries, Oct. 17, 7:56 p.m., 18th Avenue at Geary Boulevard
A 14-year-old male was at a playground with a friend when a group of juvenile girls approached them. The girls accosted the boys, causing them to leave the playground. The girls followed.

One of the girls picked up one of the boys and placed him on top of a garbage can. The boy looked over at his friend and saw a girl snatching a $5 bill out of his hand while trying to grab his cell phone. One of the boys was struck in the neck by one of the girls but managed to walk into a drug store and call 911.

The other boy walked to the bus stop at 18th Avenue and Geary Boulevard, where three of the girls started punching and tripping him. The girls fled when they saw police officers coming.

Officers arrived at the scene and detained one suspect who fit the description of the suspects. They found two more in front of a garage on 17th Avenue.

The suspects were taken to the Richmond station where their parents were contacted. One of the boys positively identified the three suspects as being involved in the attack. The boys were treated for their injuries and released.
