Police Blotter
Trespassing: April 3, 12:31 a.m., 100 Block of Balboa Street
A man heard someone coughing in the basement of his house. Because there was
no one supposed to be downstairs, he called police.
Officers responded to the scene and discovered the 33-year-old suspect sleeping on a mattress. He said he was homeless and occasionally looked for private residences to sleep at when he could not make it to a shelter. The suspect was arrested three weeks earlier for trespassing at another residence.
The suspect was transported to Richmond Station and booked.
Resisting, Delaying or Obstructing Peace Officer, Under the Influence of
Alcohol: March 17, 11:53 p.m., Geary Boulevard and Third Avenue
An officer stationed outside a bar on St. Patrick's Day noticed three bouncers
escorting an intoxicated-looking patron from the bar. After the suspect was
released, he attempted to attack one of the bouncers. Seeing this, the officer
identified himself as a police officer and grabbed the suspect's left hand.
When he did, the suspect spun around and threw a punch at the officer.
The officer ducked, escaping the blow, and tackled the suspect. He was transported to Richmond Station and booked.
The 26-year-old suspect was removed from the bar, a bartender said, because he was stealing drinks.
Dog Bite or Attack: March 28, 12:45 a.m., Unit Block of Seal Rock Drive
Police officers were summoned when neighbors heard a woman scream. When they
arrived, they discovered that two women were arguing at a kitchen table when
one woman tried to leave.
The other woman grabbed her arm, causing the woman's dog to attack in defense of its owner. The dog bit the woman several times on her arm and foot.
With the owner's consent, the dog was taken into custody by Animal Care and Control to keep it from getting agitated and biting someone else.
Indecent Exposure: April 9, 4 a.m., 400 Block of Arguello Boulevard
A woman was waiting for a bus when she saw the suspect crossing the street,
his penis exposed in his hand.
As he approached her, he growled and put his arms out to grab her. The woman screamed, sending the suspect fleeing. Because he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt that was covering most of his face, the victim did not get a good description.
Fraudulent Use of Credit and Telephone Card, ATM: March 13, 5:50 p.m., 100
Block of Clement Street
The suspect bought a 43-inch television and stand, valued at $3,600, and gave
the clerk a credit card from Next Card Visa to pay for the purchase. He also
gave a California driver's license for identification purposes.
When the clerk tried to consummate the deal, the credit card company refused, due to insufficient credit. The suspect then had the clerk make four separate transactions for $1,000 or less, which were accepted.
After loading the television and stand into the suspect's vehicle, the clerk copied down the vehicle's license plate number and called the credit card company. She was told no such VISA card exists and that the credit card numbers that were accepted were stolen from another credit card company. The clerk called police, who determined the California license the suspect used was fraudulent.
All evidence, with a description of the vehicle and its license plate number, was handed over to the police department's fraud detail for further investigation.
Aggravated Assault, with Force: March 24, 5 p.m., 5400 Block of Geary Boulevard
A group of 20 to 25 youths were sitting at a cafe near a movie theater when
the suspect left the crowd and walked over to the theater, where a man was standing
on a ladder painting. According to a witness, the 18- to 20-year-old suspect
approached the ladder and kicked it out from under the victim, who fell hard
on his head. The suspect then fled, leaving the crowd at the cafe "gasping."
Several of the youth at the cafe were interviewed but all denied knowing the suspect. The victim was transported to SF General Hospital for a CAT scan.
Battery, Mutual Combat: March 26, 3:58 p.m., Eighth Avenue and Fulton Street
Two "friends" started fighting when one of the men, who was apparently intoxicated,
said he was "in love" with the other man's wife. At one point one of the combatants
took out a golf club and was beating the other man's car with it, causing damage
in the area near the windshield.
Because the suspect with the golf club did not hit the other man with it, and because the two men refused to press charges against each other, no arrests were made.
