Police Blotter
Residential Robbery with Force: Jan. 24, 9:48 a.m., 300 Block of 20th Avenue
A man was awakened when he heard a loud banging on his back door. As he was
getting up to see what the commotion was, the back door suddenly came crashing
down after a swift kick by the suspect.
The victim said to the man, "What are you doing in here?" just before the suspect punched the 74-year-old victim in the face. The victim fell but retained consciousness.
The suspect, who was well-dressed in a suit, picked up the man's pants and took a wallet with credit cards, but no cash, from its pocket. The victim then proceeded directly to the bedroom closet where a safe with cash and precious metals was located.
As the suspect was grabbing the safe the victim ran out into the street yelling that he had been robbed. As the suspect tried to leave the premises carrying the safe, the victim grabbed the suspect by his tie and tried to detain him. The suspect dropped the safe and fled to a nearby car, which he used to escape.
The victim said he recognized the suspect from a bar he sometimes goes to for an after-dinner drink. He said he had said hello to the suspect but had never told him there was a safe in the house. The victim thinks the suspect may have followed him home to discover where he lived. The safe was taken into custody to search for fingerprints.
Aggravated Assault, Harassing Telephone Calls, Resisting Arrest: Feb. 13,
3:54 p.m., 800 Block of Arguello Boulevard
A woman called police saying the suspect was calling her and knocking on her
door even though she told the suspect that she did not want to see him. When
officers arrived on the scene, the suspect became argumentative and started
yelling profanities while frantically waving his arms around.
"This is a public place," the suspect said to the officers. "Where is your warrant?"
When the officers tried to restrain the suspect he resisted and fought with them. The suspect bit both officers during the struggle.
The victim said she dated the suspect for a month but broke off the relationship. The suspect, however, did not give up his infatuation of the victim and continued to call and come over. The officers were treated at the scene for their minor injuries and the suspect was transported to SF General Hospital for observation.
Battery: Jan. 31, 12:01 p.m., 800 Block of La Playa St.
A teacher of mentally challenged children was waiting with his students to board
a Muni #38 bus when the bus driver told him to speed up because she was on a
schedule. The teacher said one of his students, who was ill, was coming.
The driver reiterated that she was on a schedule and tried to shut the doors of the bus, striking the teacher in the shoulder and knee. The teacher refused to move and the student boarded and joined the rest of the class.
The teacher ended up going to the hospital for treatment. He filed a police report because he was unsatisfied with the response he got from Muni representatives.
Sale of Alcohol, Tobacco to Minor: Jan. 24, 6:45 p.m., 4700 Block of Geary
Boulevard
Plainclothes officers, who were observing a store that was cited a week earlier
for selling alcohol to minors, watched as a minor walked in and purchased two
quarts of beer, a small bottle of rum and two cigars.
When confronted by the officers, the clerk at the store denied selling liquor to a minor and claimed the minor stole the booze. The minor was asked in front of the clerk if he had purchased the alcohol from the clerk.
"Yeah, he did," the youth said.
