Bank Robbery, with Force: July 24, 11 a.m., 3700 Block of Balboa Street
A man wearing a surgical mask walked into a bank and approached one of the bank's
tellers.
"Give me all your f_____ing money," the robber said.
The teller, fearing for her safety, put about $1,500 on the counter. The suspect grabbed the money and walked up to another teller and also demanded money. The second teller gave the suspect about $3,500.
The suspect grabbed the money, and a $1,000 check a previous customer had deposited, and ran southbound on 37th Avenue. Police and FBI inspectors were called to the scene.
Defrauding Providers of Food, Fuel, Services or Accommodations: July 6,
10:42 p.m., 3300 Block of Geary Boulevard
A waitress working at a restaurant approached a police officer in full uniform
while he was eating and asked him to watch two suspicious customers. A busboy
overheard the men say they had no money to pay for their meals. As well, both
men went to the bathroom together in an apparent attempt to escape out a back
door.
The police officer approached the men, who had red, bloodshot eyes and appeared to be alcohol impaired, and asked them if everything was all right. One man said he had lost his wallet and the other man said he had a wallet, but no money.
At the request of the restaurant's manager, the two 34-year-old men were transported to Richmond Station and booked. The suspects' bill for two meatloaf dinners was $19.43.
Indecent Exposure: July 9, 7:15 a.m., 3200 Block of Washington Street
A woman was walking her dog when a man, between the ages of 30 and 40 years
old, exposed his genitals. The woman screamed and the suspect fled. The victim
then called the police.
Discharging Firearm in City Limits: July 16, 8:30 a.m., 200 Block of 20th
Avenue
A man called police to report that he had heard three loud noises and someone
had shot his vehicle. A bullet hole was discovered in the door of the victim's
vehicle. A search for spent bullet casings was unsuccessful.
The victim suspects a neighbor could be responsible for the shooting.
Robbery with Force: July 9, 8:30 p.m., Unit Block of Seventh Avenue
A 13-year-old youth and his 14-year-old friend were playing basketball in the
street when three suspects approached. One of the suspects's asked to see the
ball. Thinking the three suspects, who were approximately 14 to 16 years of
age, wanted to play ball, one of the victims gave it to him.
The suspect then demanded money for the return of the ball. When the victims said they did not have any money, one of the suspects told the other two suspects to search the youth, which they did. Because of fear for their safety, the suspects complied with the search.
After failing to turn up any money, the three suspects left - with the basketball.
Battery: July 11, 10:55 a.m., 400 Block of Fourth Avenue
A woman who was trying to exit a parking spot in a parking lot became frustrated
because she felt a vehicle waiting for her parking space did not allow her enough
room to get out.
"You stupid idiot," the 55-year-old woman yelled at the occupants of the waiting car.
Taking offense, a 20-year-old man got out of his car and approached the woman. After a verbal exchange, the man slapped the woman, whose glasses flew off. The woman called police.
Officers found the suspect with his mother shopping in a nearby produce store. The suspect admitted hitting the woman for calling himself and his mother an "idiot." He said the woman was "acting crazy."
The victim requested a citizen's arrest and the suspect was cited at the scene and released.
