Police Blotter

Robbery, with Force: Oct. 7, 2:48 p.m., Unit Block of Mayfair Drive

A woman was walking down some stairs to a shopping center when the suspect grabbed her purse and tried to make off with it.

The victim struggled with the suspect but he tore the purse, containing $15, cell phone and wallet, from the victim's shoulder and fled. The victim chased the suspect to a late-model vehicle but he escaped with the purse.

The wallet was found in an unknown location and returned to the victim.

Aggravated Assault with Weapon: Oct. 6, 4 p.m., Golden Gate Park

A man was beaten at a homeless encampment in Golden Gate Park when he confronted another homeless man about advances toward his girlfriend.

The suspect, who allegedly was trying to fondle the breast of the victim's girlfriend, became enraged and started hitting the victim when accused of improper behavior.

The victim received a bloody nose and mouth and went in and out of consciousness after the beating. The girlfriend, who had left the encampment before the fight, returned to find her bloodied boyfriend.

Police officers responding to the scene were able to locate the suspect and, after he was identified by the victim, was arrested.

Indecent Exposure: Oct. 15, 9:15 p.m., Lake Street at 17th Avenue

A woman was standing on the street corner when a man in a white pickup truck drove up to her.

The victim said the interior light of the truck was on and she could see he was not wearing any pants and was "stroking himself."

"Hey, hey, what do you think of this," the suspect said.

The victim ran a block to California Street and notified her husband, who saw the truck speed off but was unable to get a license plate number. A search of the area was to no avail.

Methamphetamine Offense: Oct. 10, 5:13 a.m., 15th Avenue at Cabrillo Street

Police officers in an unmarked vehicle observed a green station wagon as it made a turn so fast the tires squealed. The officers followed the vehicle as it ran through two stop signs and approached 50 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour zone.

After conducting a traffic stop to protect the public safety, the officers discovered that the driver was using an expired Florida drivers license. The suspect was asked to exit the car and pat-searched for weapons.

The driver was going to be cited and the vehicle towed but when officers searched the vehicle, they discovered an open bottle of vodka, baggies with suspected methamphetamine and a pipe for smoking the drug.

The suspect was transported to Richmond Station and booked.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol: Oct. 1, 11 p.m., 24th Avenue and Fulton Street

Officers responded to the scene of a traffic accident and discovered a vehicle wedged underneath a semi-trailer.

The suspect said he was trying to turn from eastbound Fulton Street onto 24th Avenue when he noticed a vehicle coming at him at a high rate of speed. The man sped up to avoid a collision and lost control of his vehicle, spinning out and hitting the parked truck trailer.

While interviewing the suspect, it became obvious that he had been drinking because his eyes were bloodshot and watery and there was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.

The suspect was transported to SF General Hospital for minor injuries. A blood test voluntarily conducted on the suspect revealed a .182 blood-alcohol level, more than twice the limit for being legally drunk. He was arrested and booked.

Battery: Oct. 5, 11:15 a.m., 2700 Block of Fulton Street

Officers responded to the scene of a fight between several homeless men near the edge of the park.

The victim said the suspects had beaten him because they blame him for the death of a man who died in the park several days earlier.

The victim did not want to press charges and only wanted his two dogs, which were taken by the assailants before they fled into Golden Gate Park, returned to him.
