Robbery with Force on Muni Buses: Feb. 5 through Feb. 8, Various #31
Balboa Buses
Police arrested five youths over a two-day span and booked them at the Youth
Guidance Center for robbing fellow youth who were riding the Muni #31 bus
line before and after school.
When a patron tried to leave the bus, a small group of suspects would stop them and take their wallets or other cash. At least one of the victims got punched in the nose when he resisted the suspects' advances.
The robberies have subsided since the suspects have been arrested.
Aggravated Assault with Force: Jan. 27, 6:55, 500 Block of Fourth
Avenue
A man who assaulted his girlfriend by slamming her into a wall was taken
down by a friend of the woman and a neighbor who heard screams for assistance.
The woman said the suspect was drunk or high.
The suspect attacked the woman's friend when he intervened, causing the victim to get a one-inch gash over his eyebrow.
When a neighbor assisted the victim, the two men were able to hold the suspect and hogtie him with electrical cables.
Police arrived and booked the suspect. An emergency protective order was issued barring the suspect from coming within 100 yards of his former girlfriend.
Vehicular Burglary, Feb. 24, 7:30 a.m., Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park
A call came into dispatch concerning a man who was breaking into vehicles
on Stow Lake Drive. When officers responded to the scene and spotted the
suspect, the suspect bolted.
After broadcasting a description of the suspect and calling for police backup, the suspect was spotted trying to cross Fulton Street near 11th Avenue. After a short chase, the suspect threw himself on the ground and was arrested. Witnesses positively identified the suspect.
A search of the area turned up a couple of cars with broken windows. Several purses were discovered near one of the vandalized cars.
Attempted Residential Burglary, with Force: Feb. 6, 9 a.m., 800 Block
of 25th Avenue
An alert neighbor heard the doorbell of her neighbor's house ring and looked
outside to see three females standing at the door. After hearing the bell
ring two more times, the neighbor heard a loud bang.
The neighbor banged on the inside of her walls and the women ran away. A small window was broken but entry to the house was unsuccessful.
Assault and Battery: Jan. 26, 2:17 a.m., 3800 Block of Geary Boulevard
Officers responded to a call reporting a fight on Geary Boulevard just after
the bars closed. They discovered the victim lying in one of the lanes of
traffic, apparently unconscious. They blocked traffic with their black and
white to prevent the victim from being run over.
Most of the witnesses at the scene refused to speak, but one gave a description of three suspects involved in the melee. Officers spotted several men who matched the suspects' descriptions at the corner of Balboa Street and Arguello Boulevard. One of the suspects had lacerations on his face.
The men were transported to the crime scene where they were positively identified as the suspects.
Burglary, Apartment House: Feb. 6, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2900 Block of
Clement Street
The victim returned to her apartment and discovered that it was ransacked
and money, jewelry and a cell phone were missing. Entry was through a window
that was pried open.
Crime scene investigators were notified.
