Small Businesses Rush to Aid Victims of Sept. 11 New York Terrorist Attack
Local merchants can make a donation to assist victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes in New York by making a donation to a fund that will be matched by a special fund.
Under the guidance of Scott Hauge, proprietor of Cal Insurance and a member of the Small Business Network, some $20,000 in matching funds had been raised as of presstime. Hauge has been walking the commercial corridors in the Richmond, Sunset and West Portal districts to raise money for the relief effort.
One hundred percent of the money raised will go directly to the victims because administrative costs are being borne by several organizations, including the United Way and the New York Community Trust.
Send contributions to the Small Business Network, 2311 Taraval St., SF, CA 94116. Make checks out to: United Way Sept. 11 Fund (I.D. #13-2617681).
