Man's Quest to Document, Protect Diverse Bird Species
In the not so distant past, at Christmas time at the turn of the last century, revelers would go out into nature and shoot birds. Such traditions have changed through the actions of The Audubon Society and others, with bird aficionados going out into the field to count the birds that can be found during that time. Such actions have been carried on locally in San Francisco due, in large part, to the efforts of Sunset District birder and Audubon Society Representative Dan Murphy.
