Marijuana Cultivation: Oct. 23, 10:56 a.m., Unit Block of Radio Terrace
Taraval officers executed a search warrant at a private residence and discovered more than 300 marijuana plants and an illegal electricity hook-up.
The investigation led officers to another residence on Niantic Street, where they discovered 600 more plants and arrested a suspect on multiple charges.
Editor's note: In October, Taraval officers also discovered large-scale marijuana growing operations at residences located in the 1900 block of 29th Avenue (Oct. 18); 1200 block of 32nd Avenue (Oct. 16); 300 block of Quintara Street (Oct. 14); 2100 block of 17th Avenue (Oct. 12); and 2200 block of 36th Avenue (Oct. 5).
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol: Oct. 22, 6:20 a.m.,1500 Block of 43rd Avenue
A resident called police to report a car on the sidewalk with its driver slumped over the steering wheel.
"I only drank some beers and shots," the man blurted out when awakened.
The driver failed field and chemical tests and was arrested.
Juvenile Brawl: Oct. 19, 1:53 p.m., 43rd Avenue and Judah Street
A Muni streetcar operator reported numerous juveniles fighting along Judah Street, between 25th and 43rd avenues.
Officers responding to the scene found a young girl who was battered in the face and a suspect at Sunset Boulevard and Judah. The suspect was positively identified and cited for battery.
Prostitution: Oct. 13, 4 p.m., 2700 Block of Judah Street
Taraval officers received multiple complaints of prostitution activity at an acupuncture health center on Judah Street so the SF Police Department's Vice Crimes Division was contacted.
Vice officers went to the establishment and an employee solicited an undercover officer for an act of prostitution. The suspect was arrested.
At 6:05 p.m. the same day, vice officers arrested a woman for soliciting an act of prostitution at a massage parlor on the 2300 block of 34th Avenue.
Possession of Stolen Property, Narcotics and Parole Violations: Oct. 11, 5:35 p.m., Golden Gate Park
Plainclothes officers were in the area of the Academy of Sciences regarding a call of a possible auto burglary suspect when they located the suspect. They conducted surveillance as the suspect walked through the park looking into parked vehicles. After he left the park, he continued to look into vehicles in the Inner Sunset District.
The officers finally detained the suspect at Second Avenue and Lincoln Way and found a GPS in the suspect's possession. Through a search of the GPS's memory, they were able to locate the owner, who said earlier in the day his car had been broken into and his GPS taken.
The suspect, a 33-year-old male who was on parole, was charged with numerous crimes.
Auto Burglary, Auto Theft, Receiving Stolen Property: Oct. 7, 3:40 a.m., 1400 Block of 45th Avenue
In response to numerous auto thefts, particularly after midnight, plainclothes officers were dispatched to patrol the neighborhood.
While watching a double-parked vehicle on 45th Avenue, a Taraval plainclothes officer observed a suspect looking into parked vehicles with the use of a flashlight.
The suspect took off, with the officer in pursuit. After his vehicle started bellowing smoke and stopped on Thornton Avenue, the suspect took off on foot. He was arrested in a backyard on Apollo Street.
The suspect's vehicle had evidence of previous burglaries.
Robbery: Oct. 6, 1:53 p.m., Golden Gate Park
A woman was sitting on the grass near the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum reading a book when an unknown assailant grabbed her backpack and escaped in a Subaru station wagon.
Witnesses heard the woman's pleas for help and ran after the vehicle, but the doors were locked and they were unable to apprehend the suspect before he sped off.
Indecent Exposure: Oct. 2, 12:10 p.m., Sunset Boulevard and Taraval Street
Officers investigated a case of a suspect throwing a rock at another vehicle and exposing himself.
The suspect was located and arrested.
Road Rage: Oct. 2, 2:33 p.m., 2600 Block of 28th Avenue
Officers were called when an enraged motorist struck another motorist in the chest and threatened to kill his family.
The suspect was arrested for making criminal threats and battery.
